Race Condition

Race condition occurs when an application fails to properly handle simultaneous requests, transactions, or state changes. Attackers may exploit timing gaps to bypass limits, duplicate actions, redeem rewards multiple times, overwrite data, or access restricted functions. In bug bounty and application security testing, race conditions are important because they often expose business logic flaws that automated scanners may miss.

Simultaneous Requests Sent → Timing Gap Exploited → State Changes Misused → Unauthorized Outcome Created → Atomic Controls Applied
