Brand impersonation is a form of an attack to a trusted company or brand that is done to hijack victims to respond to advertisments or to steal their sensitive information. Such attacks can either be used to hijack traffic on the name of the brand, and then pass on the traffic to advertsiers using SSP's in form of ad fraud or they are used to steal customer information to hijack identity for financial or identity theft.




What are differnt form of Brand Impersonation?


Brand Impersonation can be done in many ways, but broadly they can be classified into two forms : 1. Brand Impersonation for Advertising Fraud : Fraudsters mimic brand assets like landing pages, redirect links, creatives, or sender names to lure customers to click and convert on advertisers ad links. Monetisation of such links happen through fraudulent SSP's. 2. Brand Impersonation for Financial or Identity Theft : Fraudsters mimic brand landing pages to steal senstive financial and indenity information of vulnerable customers in the name of the trusted brand. Monetisation of such data thefts often lead to idenitity or financial loss to customers.
